Last Year: Justen Yeager from Green River, Wyoming went on to win the second annual Top 20 Showdown at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Justen Yeager started on the pole and Wade Taylor beside him. The green flag flew but, the race was restarted immediately because of a false start. Justen Yeager immediately jumped up on the cushion and left the rest of the field on the restart. The first lap seen Justen Yeager in first then, Wade Taylor, Derek Kopp, Cory Simoneau, and Don Baisch. Chase Hansen and Ricky Alvarado both jumped to the cushion as well as they tried to work their way to the front in the early stages of the 20 lap showdown. On lap 5, Ricky Alvarado, Chase Hansen, Cory Simoneau, and Colten Vanderherp went four wide in turns three and four. Then on lap 6, The “Colorado Kid” Derek Kopp lost his motor while running in the third position. Then Chuck Buchanan was seen stopped in turn two which would bring out the caution on lap number 6. Yeager still held the race lead over Alvarado, Taylor, Hansen, Vanderherp, & Simoneau as they were still under the yellow flag. The restart was then restarted because of two cars stopped in turn 3. The restart was seen on lap 7 as Hansen held the fourth position until Chase Hansen jumped the cushion in turns one and two allowing the “Ferron Flyer” Colten Vanderherp underneath for the fourth spot. Vanderherp then had his sights on Spring Creek, Nevada's and Engine drawing winner, Wade Taylor for the third spot. By lap 10 the field was lined out with Ricky Alvarado trying to get by Justen Yeager for the race lead. By lap 15, Don Baisch was seen backwards in turn one. Yeager, Alvarado, Taylor, Vanderherp, & Hansen held the top 5 spots before the next restart. Just after the restart, Wade Taylor allowed Vanderherp to get under him for the third spot. Eveything lined out until the last lap when Cory Simoneau nicked the tire on the bottom of turn number one forcing him to fall out of the top 10. Then coming out of turn number four, Justen Yeager beat Ricky Alvarado by a car length to win the Top 20 Showdown. Hansen got by Wade Taylor for the fourth position at the line. Ricky Alvarado moved up 12 positions and Troy Sweeten gained 10 positions. Ryan Dimick and Jeff Cooper did not start the showdown due to losing a motor in the qualifying races for the Duel the same night.
