Seven new dates put EQ Wild West Tour events at 18
MYTON, Utah (Feb. 18) – The final touches have been put on the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour schedule, with the addition of seven more dates putting the total number of events for the IMCA Modified series at 18. The second annual tour will now open with a Friday and Saturday, April 11-12 doubleheader at Diamond Mountain Speedway in Vernal, Utah. Also new are the Friday and Saturday, July 25-26 twinbill at Aztec, N.M., Speedway; the Friday, Sept. 12 show at Noise Park Raceway in Idaho Falls, Idaho; and series-ending features Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13-14 at Atomic Motor Raceway in Atomic City, Idaho. With events in six states, the tour also visits the Fairgrounds Speedway and Alamosa Motor Speedway in Colorado, Winnemucca Regional Raceway, Battle Mountain Raceway and Summit Raceway in Nevada, Utah’s Desert Thunder Raceway and Sweetwater Speedway in Wyoming. Car counts will determine the purse at all events, with winners of events with 40 or more entries taking home a $1,000 share of a $5,600 purse. Any event with fewer than 40 entries will pay $750 to win as part of a $4,425 feature purse. Drivers will receive IMCA national, SuperFlow Western Region and Smiley’s Racing Products state points, as well as special series points, at all races. A $3,000 point fund will be paid to top 10 drivers in final point standings. The top 20 drivers in points will also be invited to compete in a special Shootout during the Duel in the Desert special at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Nov. 15. Each $1,000 feature winner, as well as the overall series champion and the Shootout winner, become candidates for 2008 or 2009 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballots.
